Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close third set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
