The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Whenever a significant honors show approaches, there’s always an outcry to include fresh award types to honor overlooked contributions and delight the passions of fans dedicated to specific genres.

Another commentator made the case supporting a scary games classification. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are board games, which is someone's personal cause. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal remains most pressing and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a category for puzzle games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Categorizing art by genre isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and it will always generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. There’s a reason film award organizations don’t do it. But it is a necessary evil for the industry of gaming, showing incredible range they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Leading game ceremonies presently include award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these award types effectively encompass a lot of ground, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. No appropriate category exists for their placement. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Which classification works within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit award groups including Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser got overlooked in any category in 2014
  • Another imaginative release missed out in 2019
  • Popular arranging title got ignored recently
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for niche award types

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, but the art in brain-teasers holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences worldwide continuing this trend for many years.

The famous puzzle experience challenges famous sandbox experiences for the title of best-selling game of all time; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these represent titles without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators function at the challenging frontier of video game design, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait generations.
